ITANAGAR, July 25: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General KT Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retd), on the solemn occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, paid heartfelt tributes to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during the Kargil War of 1999.

In an official message issued from Raj Bhavan, the Governor conveyed his deepest respects on behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh and in his personal capacity.

He recalled the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of the Indian armed forces in defending the nation against immense odds during the conflict.

“Kargil Vijay Diwas is more than just a commemoration of military triumph; it is a powerful and enduring reminder of the indomitable spirit, selflessness, and unmatched patriotism of our soldiers,” the Governor said.

He emphasized that the valiant defence of the nation by Indian troops in the high-altitude battlefields of Kargil continues to inspire every Indian to rise above divisions and embody the ideals of unity, national pride, and resilience.

Referring to the unforgiving terrain and extreme conditions under which Indian soldiers fought during the war, Governor Parnaik said, “Against impossible odds, our soldiers stood tall to protect the motherland. Their legacy reminds us that service to the nation is the highest form of duty.”

Highlighting the relevance of Kargil Vijay Diwas beyond the battlefield, the Governor said that the occasion should serve as a lasting source of inspiration, particularly for the younger generation, to uphold the values of patriotism, courage, and collective responsibility.

“As we remember our fallen heroes with reverence and gratitude, their legacy continues to awaken the spirit of service and sacrifice in every Indian,” he added.

The Governor also called upon all citizens to reflect on the valour and commitment of the Indian armed forces and to renew their own dedication to national service in whatever capacity they can.

“May the valour of Kargil continue to guide and enthuse generations to come,” he said in conclusion.

Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed every year on July 26 to mark India’s victory in Operation Vijay, when Indian forces successfully recaptured all positions held by Pakistani intruders in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir in 1999.

Across the country, the day is observed with memorial ceremonies, tributes to fallen soldiers, and reaffirmations of national solidarity.
