NAGAON, March 15: Along with the rest of the state, the Nagaon district unit of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) staged a ‘Satyagraha’ on Friday against the implementation of the CAA in the country and demanded the immediate repeal of the act. Thousands of protesters from the students’ organisation participated in the agitation and filled the air of the small town with various anti-CAA slogans. The organisation initiated a protest rally against the act from its district office near Nehrubali and traversed throughout the town. The rally concluded at its office.
During the protest, the participants strongly criticised the BJP-led government at the centre as well as in the state and asserted that they would not accept the act under any circumstances. Besides, the agitators opined that the act would erode the identity of the Assamese nation and its language in the days to come.
