DIBRUGARH, Oct 17: The National Health Mission(NHM), Assam mission director MS Laxmipriya on
Tuesday inaugurated “Snehbandhan Lactation Management Centre” a human milk bank at the mother
and child care building at the Assam medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh.
This is said to be the first human milk bank in the state. Two more such banks are coming up at the
Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH).
The mission director also inaugurated the “Hematology and Multipurpose Day Care Centre” at the
department of medicine in the AMCH.
Laxmipriya also presided over the zonal review meeting of 11 Upper Assam districts namely, Dibrugarh,
Dhemaji, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Majuli, Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Golaghat, Sivasagar, Charaideo and Tinsukia
being held at the Dr John Berry White Auditorium of the AMCH.
Principal of AMCH, Sanjib Kakoti, superintendent Prashanta Dihingia and other faculties, doctors and
staff of the medical college were also present on the occasion.
