BISWANATH CHARIALI, Sept 15: The annual meeting of Sootea No 2 Cooperative Society convened on Friday at the conference hall of the Cooperative Society. The meeting was presided over by Binoy Saikia, the president of Sootea No 2 Cooperative Society. Sanjiv Kumar Goswami, senior inspector of Cooperative Societies for Sonitpur district, attended the annual meeting as an observer.
During the meeting, Rupanjal Borkakaty, the secretary of the Cooperative Society, presented the government audit report and provided an overview of the annual proceedings. In his report, he highlighted that the Cooperative Society had generated a total income of Rs 10,185,91 in the financial year 2022-23. Additionally, a sum of Rs 5,979,282 is currently held in the bank account of the Cooperative Society, with an outstanding sum of Rs 13 lakhs, yet to be credited into the account by the state government.
In addition to their regular activities, the Sootea No 2 Cooperative Society has actively engaged in fulfilling social responsibilities. This year, the society planted nearly 300 saplings of local varieties within its premises.
During the annual meeting, a resolution was passed to establish a grocery shop at the Sootea Commercial Centre starting in 2024. The gathering was well-attended, with shareholders, cooperative society agents, and members of the management committee participating in the discussions.
The annual meeting served as a platform for reviewing the Society’s financial performance and future plans, reaffirming its commitment to both economic development and social responsibility.
