JORHAT, Dec 10: A three-day exhibition of illustrations and drawings of Robin Baruah, who was an eminent illustrator and an artist, will be held at the Gallery, Vision Art, Asom (VAA), Borbheta, here from December 12 to 14.
The exhibition organised by Different Strokes and VAA, will be inaugurated at 3 PM on Monday and will remain open from 11 AM to 7 PM during the other days, as stated by the organisers. The exhibition is being organised to pay tribute to the eminent artist, who passed away on June 20, 2022 creating a huge void in the art scenario of the region.
It may be mentioned here that Robin Baruah, who was from Bordoloi Chuk, Charigaon, Jorhat, had worked for number of magazines of the State during his career, which included ‘Prantik’ and ‘Mouchaq’. He was also a former teacher of Jorhat Fine Arts Society and later became a regular artist on the panel of the National Book Trust, India.
He did cover designing for books, drew pictures for stories, novels etc. and was selected for State Government Silpi pension in 2019. Many of his portraits are preserved at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati and several other institutes.
