Assam: Cop found drinking while on duty suspended, DGP GP Singh assures further departmental punishment

Guwahati, Oct 30: Assam Director General of Police GP Singh on October 30 informed that the cop whose video of drinking while on duty went viral, has been served suspension notice.

Taking to platform X, GP Singh wrote, “Suspension order of the delinquent policeman. I assure people he shall be awarded most severe lawfully permitted departmental punishment”.

The suspension order of the delinquent policeman mentions, “Perused the report dated 29/10/2023 regarding Fatasil Ambari PS GD Entry No 12 dated – 29/10/2023 submitted by Insp. Satish Sahoo, Officer-in-Charge of Fatasil Ambari PS. UBC/1218 Om Prakash Singh of Fatasil Ambari PS is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect for his gross misconduct and dereliction of duty and pending his departmental enquiry. He will draw S.A. during his period of suspension as admissible and closed to OR, West Guwahati”.

Earlier, Assam DGP GP Singh had taken cognisance of the incident after the video of the cop’s misconduct went viral on social media. The senior police official assured that the cop in question will be served harsh punishment for his misconduct.
