Assam: Fake Currency Dealer Shot At Off Nagaon

NAGAON, April 21: Nagaon police shot at a gang involved in fake Indian currencies at Dighaliati near Raha on Thursday afternoon.

Significantly, one police personnel was also injured in the incident and one ambulance coming from Guwahati towards Dimapur was accidentally damaged due to police firing.

But luckily no occupant of the ambulance was injured, sources said.

Meanwhile, police were able to apprehend three fake currency dealers identified as Babul Ali, Abdul Hassan and Aijul Haque of Kampur Kachuwa.

Besides, police also recovered one cartoon of Indian fake currencies worth several lakhs, one alto car, one two wheeler and two mobile phones from their possessions, sources said.

Sources claimed that based on intelligence inputs, a police team led by DSP (S&I) conducted the operation and chased the gang involved in trading of fake Indian currencies.

When the police team confronted the gang at Dighaliati near Raha, the members of the gang attacked the police team. Having no options to stop them, police had to open fire at them. As a result, one Babul Ali was hit by a bullet in his leg.

Besides, a police personnel was also injured in the sudden attack of those accused, sources claimed.
