Gurugram, Nov 13: A minor girl from Assam was rescued in Gurugram, Haryana, shedding light on the ongoing issue of human trafficking in the region.
The rescue operation was executed by the North East Cell of the Delhi Police, leading to an arrest of an accused associated with the case.
The operation was supervised by Dr Ghritashri Bhuyan Narula, the coordinator of Delhi Police North East Cell. The victim shared she was deceived with the offer of employment and a better life and was trafficked to the national capital.
Based on the victim’s information, the Udalguri Police in Assam apprehended an agent involved in the crime, identified as ‘Lambu’.
He was the one who had initially approached the victim with the promise of a promising job opportunity. This incident is not an isolated one, with multiple cases of young women being trafficked and subsequently rescued in the past.
