Assam: GNRC employee goes missing while en-route to work, family suspects trafficking

HT Digital,

Guwahati, April 12: On the eve of Rongali Bihu, sensation has gripped a residence in Khumtai, Golaghat District, where a married woman working at GNRC, Guwahati, Assam has been missing for five days.

The woman, Rupjyoti Bora Hazarika, works as a Swasthyamitra at GNRC hospital and vanished on her way to work.

The family, including the woman’s mother, husband, and other relatives, fear a women trafficking syndicate may be involved and have criticized the police for their handling of the case.

Despite filing a First Information Report with the Khumtai police, the family says no immediate action was taken.

In desperation, the family has appealed to Director General of Police GP Singh and Khumtai MLA Mrinal Saikia, asking them to intervene. The family has also asked anyone with information about Rupjyoti Bora Hazarika’s whereabouts to contact her husband at 6001530427.
