Assam: Police Organise Awareness Program Against  Witch Hunting In Diphu

DIPHU:  An Awareness programme against witch hunting/ daini was organised by Diphu Police Station at Borsing Timung village playground under Diphu police station.

Additional Superintendent of Police (crime), Nayan Moni Barman and O/c of Diphu Sadar Thana, JS Khobung explained to the villagers the superstitious belief of witch hunt or witchcraft that is prevalent in some societies and the need to stop falsely accusing someone of practising witchcraft.

Such social issues can be eradicated through a collective effort from social bodies and the general public.

Members of Nagarik Committee and legal experts, Karbi Students Association, Sarkari Goanbura, village headmen, members of Village Defense Party and women were present in the awareness programme. About 150 men and women participated in the programme.
