MLA Dipayan takes initiative of forming human chain to streamline traffic

SILCHAR, May 2: MLA Dipayan Chakraborty on Monday said that road dividers would be installed in different areas of Silchar soon in order to resolve traffic congestion, which has been a big problem in this town for years.
Dipayan, who along with many other people formed a human chain at Church Road, Ambikapatty on the day with the objective to streamline traffic smoothly, said the problem of traffic snarls is taking a bigger shape day by day and something viable needs to be done to provide relief to commuters. Road dividers will be set up in Silchar soon, he said.
He said he has spoken about the project with chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and received a positive response from the CM. Besides, he spoke about complaints of illegal parking lots in Silchar regarding which the CM suggested that a multi-storey building for parking of vehicles could be built in the town to resolve the matter, Dipayan said.
Earlier on the day, Dipayan took part in the human chain and streamlined the traffic at Church Road, which experiences traffic snarls everyday. The human chain was formed like a divider so that traffic movement could take place in a disciplined manner. Other eminent citizens of the town including Bimalendu Roy, Rajesh Kumar Das and Debashish Shome were also present.
It may be mentioned here that a delegation led by MLA Dipayan met Cachar superintendent of police Ramandeep Kaur and the executive officer of Silchar municipal board earlier this month and discussed the issue of traffic jams in Silchar. The delegation had a fruitful discussion with the SP and it was hopeful of a positive outcome for management of traffic in the town.
