Dudhnoi, Nov 16: Ashok Rabha, a Senior Assistant in the office of the Sub Divisional Agricultural Officer, Dudhnoi, Goalpara district, was caught red-handed accepting a bribe by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Thursday.
The complainant had earlier reported to the DVAC that Rabha demanded Rs. 5,000 for matters related to land re-classification. Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant sought legal action against Rabha. Consequently, a trap was set by the DVAC, leading to Rabha’s arrest.
Ashok Rabha, was apprehended immediately after accepting a bribe of Rs. 2,000 from a complainant.
The incident, witnessed by independent observers, occurred in his office. The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, has arrested Rabha due to substantial evidence against him.
Following this, a case has been filed at the ACB Police Station on 16/11/2023, under the ACB P.S. Case No. 98/2023, as per the clauses of section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (amended in 2018). Legal procedures are currently in progress.
