BEAT team evaluates development initiatives by NTPC Bongaigaon Salakati

KOKRAJHAR, Jan 12: The Business Excellence Assessors Team (BEAT) concluded a comprehensive four-day evaluation of community development initiatives at NTPC Bongaigaon Salakati. Led by quality champion M Sankar Subbu, the six-member team engaged in a detailed assessment of various initiatives, demonstrating NTPC Bongaigaon Salakati’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and community welfare.

As part of their visit, the BEAT team, recognising the harsh winters in the region, distributed blankets to senior citizens from nearby villages falling below the poverty line. The act, conducted under CSR, received appreciation from Satyendra Kumar Sarkar, president of Salakari Anchalik Senior Citizen Mancha, Salakati.

The assessors interacted with diverse stakeholders and beneficiaries, including the GEM children and their parents, the sewing class trainer, Disha Class (an e-voice initiative), the head teacher of Salakati ME School, and media representatives. The team also visited the ITI Salakati, supported by NTPC Bongaigaon, engaging with students and faculties.

Exploring local industries, the team visited the Bodoland Silk Park Asabari, understanding the reeling, weaving process, and witnessing the final product’s display. In a gesture of support, nutritional kits were distributed to TB patients in collaboration with additional district commissioner Kabita Deka and Dr Kaushik Das, district TB officer. NTPC Bongaigaon Salakati’s adoption of 100 TB patients was acknowledged, and Dr Ela Chakraborty, CMO, NTPC Bongaigaon, received the Nikshay Mitra certificate.

The Business Excellence Assessment is integral for enhancing organisational efficiency and serves as a benchmark for operational excellence. The expert assessors’ team included Debabrata Paul, senior assessor and former executive director (NTPC); Vemula Hari Hara Rayalu, assessor and AGM FM (NTPC Barh); Rahul Verma, assessor and AGM EMD (NTPC Vindhyachal); Manoj Kumar Pandey, assessor and AGM Operation (NTPC Dadri); Samund Singh Narula, assessor and DGM FM (NTPC Sipat).
