SIVASAGAR, Sept 17: The Forest minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary, inaugurated the Amrit Brikshya plantation in Sivasagar on Sunday. He planted the first sapling in the Circuit House campus in the morning and later proceeded to Geleki, where an astounding 1500 saplings were planted within a remarkable 35 seconds, setting another world record.
In total, 3,45,000 saplings were planted across 82 panchayats in the district. The minister announced that with the achievement on Sunday, the Amrit Brikshya Andolan now holds a total of seven world records. He also emphasised that special measures have been put in place to ensure the preservation and proper watering of the planted saplings.
