KOKRAJHAR, Nov 22: The Chirang district administration and election authorities are all set to conduct the counting of votes for the 31 No Sidli LAC by-election on Saturday at the district center complex, Kajalgaon.
Necessary arrangements and preparations have been completed to conduct the counting of votes amidst strong security vigilance around the counting center and strong room.
Notably, the by-elections for five assembly constituencies in the state of Assam, including Sidli LAC, were held on November 13, with a voter turnout of nearly 75.50 percent.
The by-election in Sidli LAC was necessitated due to the resignation of MLA Joyanta Basumatary, who was elected to the Lok Sabha in the recently concluded Parliamentary elections held in June.
The by-election in Sidli LAC took place at 273 polling stations across the constituency.
The fate of the three contesting candidates will be revealed on Saturday.
UPPL candidate Nirmal Kumar Brahma, backed by the NDA alliance, Sanjib Wary of Congress, and Suddha Kumar Basumatary of the BPF party contested the by-election.
Meanwhile, each of the contesting candidates has claimed victory in the by-election from Sidli LAC.
UPPL candidate Nirmal Kumar Brahma expressed confidence that he will emerge victorious as people across communities voted in favour of the UPPL party, backed by the NDA alliance. He stated that common masses across the constituency had come forward to support the UPPL candidate, ensuring his victory. He added that he is winning the Sidli LAC by a significant margin.
“The people’s mandate will come in favour of UPPL and the NDA alliance in Sidli LAC,” said Pramod Boro, the CEM of the Bodoland Territorial Region and UPPL president.
BPF candidate Suddha Kumar Basumatary also claimed that he will emerge victorious in Sidli LAC as common voters cast their votes in his favour.
