KOKRAJHAR, Oct 14: The four-day Durga Puja celebrations concluded in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) on Sunday. Over 450 puja mandaps were erected across the BTR districts for the festivities.
On Maha Ashtami, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited several puja mandaps amid a large gathering of devotees. He made stops at five puja mandaps in Kokrajhar, including the Main Bazar Durga Puja Mandap, where he greeted devotees in the morning. Accompanying him were Pramod Boro, chief executive member of the BTR, and Lok Sabha MP Joyanta Basumatary.
Chief minister Sarma arrived in Kokrajhar by helicopter and continued his visit to Basugaon and Bijni in Chirang district, attending additional puja mandaps. He extended his best wishes to the people of the state, noting that the prevailing peace and tranquillity in the Bodoland region had enabled smooth and disciplined celebrations.
CEM Pramod Boro expressed his gratitude to chief minister Sarma for visiting Kokrajhar and Chirang during the auspicious occasion of Maha Ashtami. “On this sacred occasion, I felt blessed to accompany chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in visiting five Durga Puja mandaps in Kokrajhar town. May Maa Durga bless us all with peace, devotion, happiness, and good health. May Her divine grace light the path forward for the progress and prosperity of Assam and BTR,” Boro stated.
