DIPHU, Jan 8: Karbi indigenous faith followers filed a complaint at the Diphu police station on January 7 for taking action against a leader of All Party Hills Leaders Conference (APHLC), Semson Teron, law secretary of APHLC, Bokajan LAC.
Karbi Indigenous faith organisations namely, Karbi Honghari Amei, Hemphu Mukrang Adorbar, Karbi Kurusar Chingrum Amei and Karbi Anglong Rong Asar Amei filed the FIR at Diphu police station complaining that Semson Teron had insulted the Karbi Indigenous faith practices by commenting ‘Rest in Peace’ on a post of Rongker Karkli on social media on January 5.
In the FIR, the organisations said they were unhappy at the comment insulting their religion and demanded immediate action.
It may be mentioned that most Karbi tribals still follow its old traditional indigenous faith and observe Rongker Karkli on January 5 for the welfare of their respective villages and its villagers.
