DIBRUGARH, Jan 5: The National Academy of Broadcasting & Multimedia (NABM) Delhi, the prominent training institution of Prasar Bharati, India’s Public Service Broadcaster, is set to organise a comprehensive three-day workshop on environment conservation and countering climate change. The event is scheduled to take place from January 8 to 10, 2024, at the Indira Miri Hall in Dibrugarh University.
Producers from Akashvani & Doordarshan Kendras across the country are actively participating in this significant workshop.
Eminent activists in the field of environment conservation and climate change, including Rizwan UzZaman (technical consultant, Assam Climate Change Management Society), Rituraj Phukan (International Climate Change speaker and educationist), Soumyadeep Datta (director, Nature’s Beckon – Environment Activist Group of North-East India), BV Sandeep (divisional forest officer, Dibrugarh), Ochintya Sarma (Chevening Rolls-Royce Science Innovation and Leadership Fellow and the Forest Man of India, Padmashree Jadav Payeng), will be actively deliberating in various sessions.
Anuradha Agarwal (additional director general – Training, Prasar Bharati) and Ravi Kumar Joshi (deputy director general, NABM Delhi, Prasar Bharati) will also grace the occasion with their presence.
The valedictory function of the workshop is anticipated to be presided over by the vice chancellor of Dibrugarh University, Professor Jahnabi Gogoi Nath.
The workshop aims to sensitise participants about the urgent need to counter climate change, emphasising the potential catastrophic consequences if immediate action is not taken. The discussions will align with the resolutions of COP 28, recently held in Dubai, and in harmony with the resolutions adopted at the G20 Heads of States Summit in Delhi last year, presided over by India.
Participants are expected to gain insights into the intricacies of environment conservation during the workshop, enabling them to effectively design programs to inspire public engagement in afforestation and the enhancement of the remaining forest cover in the country.
Notably, Akashvani Dibrugarh has played a pivotal role in environmental initiatives, having planted approximately 20,000 trees within its listening range through its ‘Green Broadcasting’ initiative, earning global appreciation.
