DPS Nagaon marks World Environment Day

GUWAHATI, June 5: DPS Nagaon celebrated Habitat-2024 on World Environment Day with great enthusiasm, aiming to promote environmental awareness. The event featured a march themed ‘Green Nagaon, Clean Nagaon’, with 88 students from class 5 to 7 participating along with principal Ritu Rajnish, head of administration Mukesh Rijal, 11 dedicated teachers, and other administrative staff. Although director Divya Chhawchharia could not attend, she extended full support.

At the outset, principal Ritu Rajnish felicitated Rabin Phukan, the traffic in-charge of Nagaon district, with a memento and gamosa, and head of administration Mukesh Rijal with a gamosa, honouring their contributions.

The march commenced from the Clock Tower of Nagaon town around 9:00 am, proceeding to Nehru Bali Field via Stadium Market. Students carried banners, school flags, and chanted slogans with remarkable energy, with parents joining towards the end to support the young environmentalists.

The march concluded around 10:00 am, marking a successful event. Principal Ritu Rajnish emphasised, “The active participation of our students and families highlights the importance of environmental stewardship.”

Pro vice chairman Binod Kumar Chhawchharia, director Ashwini Chhawchharia, and Rahul Jain extended their blessings to the students, adding to the auspiciousness of the occasion.
