Dr Hemari Kro receives ‘Samaj Sewak Perona Award 2025’ for social contributions

DIPHU, March 22: Dr Hemari Kro of Diphu, who is the Superintendent in-charge at the office of the Inspector of Schools, has been awarded the ‘Samaj Sewak Perona Award 2025’ by the Uttar Purvanchal Perona Samanay Unnayan Charitable Trust.

The award was presented to Dr Kro in recognition of his outstanding contributions to society through his social activities during a function held at Pensioner’s Bhawan in the Chandmari area of Guwahati on Friday, March 21.

Dr Kro is the son of the late Langming Kro and Lt. Kawe Hansepi. He was previously honored with an Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa) in the field of Education and Social Welfare by the Advisory Selection Board of the Bharat Virtual Open Education University, which is affiliated with and collaborates with Central Christian University in Malawi, East Africa. The head office is located in Patel Nagar, Delhi.

Each year, the trust presents awards to individuals who have made significant contributions in various fields such as education, art and culture, literature, journalism, social service, and more.

In addition to Dr Kro, 10 other individuals were awarded for their outstanding contributions in various fields. The awards included a citation, a memento, and an Assamese phulan gamocha, which were presented by the chief guest of the function, Dr Dayananda Pathak, former Principal of Pragjyotish College, Guwahati, along with Dr Jatindra Nath Dekka, retired Joint Director of Industries and Commerce, Government of Assam, and Deepa Das, Assistant Headmistress of Tezpur Collegiate High School.

The ceremony was also attended by the Trust president, Dr Prakash Dekka, and secretary, Subita Barman Dekka.

Other awards included the Jibon Jora Silpi Prerona Bota, awarded to Bihu Semrat Khagen Gogoi, the Karma Maharathi Award presented to Dr Mahananda Kumar, and the Satra Bhushan title given to Dr Hariram Das.

The Sahitya Jyoti Prerona Bota was awarded to Rupali Mahanta, while the Udioman Silpi Bota was given to Sanskrita Malakar. The Srestho Samvad Sevak Prerona Bota was presented to two individuals, Rubul Das and Hemanta Bora, reporter for Asomiya Pratidin. The Silpi Prerona Bota was awarded to Dr Pravat Haloi, Kamal Deka, and Hansraj Majumdar, while the Sahitya Prerona Bota was presented to Pran Hari Das and Arjun Sen Deka.

A special felicitation was given to Raju Baruah for receiving an Honorary Doctorate, and Dilip Barman, Correspondent of Dainik Batori Kakot and Agradoot newspapers, was also honored by the Trust.
