GUWAHATI, June 10: In a remarkable example of self-reliance and community-focused entrepreneurship, Pallav Tamuli, a young educated resident of Abhaypur village, North Guwahati, has set up a pure mustard oil manufacturing unit, choosing to forge his own path rather than pursue a conventional government job.
His venture, Aayojan, located near the Rudreswar Panchayat Office in Bihalangani, was launched in September 2024. Using a state-of-the-art oil extraction machine sourced from Gujarat, the unit produces 100% pure mustard oil—free from adulteration and rich in natural nutrients. The oil has already found a growing market, with distribution expanding beyond North Guwahati to other parts of the city.
In addition to promoting healthy consumer choices, Aayojan supports the local agricultural economy by directly procuring mustard seeds from area farmers at fair prices. The initiative has also created employment opportunities for local youth, contributing to rural livelihood generation.
Tamuli, the son of respected educator Promod Tamuli, has earned recognition as a role model for youth, demonstrating the power of educated, community-driven entrepreneurship. His decision to prioritize public welfare and sustainable development over a secure government position underscores a broader movement toward self-employment and grassroots enterprise in Assam.
