MORIGAON: Five individuals were apprehended on Thursday for allegedly misbehaving with a policeman who was not wearing a helmet while transporting a seized vehicle to a police station in Morigaon district, Assam.
The incident occurred during a police drive against motorcyclists without helmets at Moirabari police point on Wednesday evening. As part of the drive, the police had seized two-wheelers whose riders were found to be not wearing helmets, as stated by Morigaon superintendent of police, Hemanta Das.
According to police reports, “A policeman was taking a seized bike to the police station when he was surrounded by a group of people who created a ruckus, questioning why he was not wearing a helmet, and even attempted to harm him physically.”
In response to the incident, the police conducted a search operation and arrested the five individuals who obstructed the policeman from performing his duty, added SP Hemanta Das.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ribul Hussain, Zakaria, Baharul Islam, Dildar Hussain, and Khairul Islam.
