By bringing various stakeholders onto a common platform, we can discuss, share, and explore the possibilities of leveraging waterways and other aspects of the maritime sector to drive growth in the Northeast.”
Sonowal added, “Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry has organized the GMIS from October 17 to 19, 2023, at Bharat Mandapam. Themed ‘Connect, Collaborate & Create,’ the summit aims to provide a global and domestic platform to unlock the vast potential of the maritime sector. I am confident that the discussions and collaborations during this event will pave the way for a successful Global Maritime India Summit 2023.”
The event will see the participation of key dignitaries, including ministerial representatives from all the northeastern states, alongside foreign delegates from Bhutan and Bangladesh. The roadshow’s focus lies in emphasising the role of inland waterways in harnessing maritime sector possibilities and engaging in comprehensive dialogues about utilising waterways for regional growth, improved maritime infrastructure, trade, and overall development.
