According to reports, Rupam left his home early in the morning on his motorcycle, stating that he had special work to attend to in the afternoon. He then dismissed other employees from the sub-health center. However, he did not return home until around 9:00 pm, and his mobile phone was switched off. Concerned family and friends began searching for him and eventually found him hanging in a room at the Naokata Sub-Health Center where he worked.

The body of Rupam was recovered from the scene and sent to the Morigaon Civil Hospital for postmortem examination. A suicide note was found in Rupam’s pants pocket, which is currently in police custody. The exact cause of the suicide has not been revealed yet, but the post-mortem report and police investigation are expected to shed light on the circumstances.

Rupam Sarma was actively involved in various organisations and institutions in Morigaon. He is survived by his wife, an eight-month-old daughter, and a 12-year-old son.
