BAKALIA, Jan 15: Environmentalist Jadav Payeng was conferred Rongbong Terang Samanwaya Award 2025 in a function held at Bakaliaghat Anchalic Yuva Sangha Premises on January 13.

Padmashree Rongbong Terang birthday is celebrated on Jan 13 and on the occasion every year Chingthur Publication, Bakaliaghat presents the award to a special and selected person of Assam. In this award a Karbi Jacket, Karbi turban- Poho, bag, Karbi totem pole- jambili athon, a citation and cash money was presented to Payeng. 

On the occasion, a library in the name of Rongbong Terang was inaugurated by Professor Guwahati University, Upen Rabha Hakasam. A wall magazine ‘Pahar Rengoni’ was also unveiled on this occasion.

Assam Sahitya Sabha vice president Padum Rajkhowa; newly appointed general secretary, Debajit Bora; president, Karbi Lammet Amei, Kamsing Hanse; general secretary (caretaker), AASU, Sorjon Hanse; president of Karbi Anglong Sahitya Sabha, Barim Ingti and many others attended  the function. 

‘Samaya aaru Vastab’, a book written by Bhaben Koch was also released on the occasion. It may be mentioned that due to ill health, Padmashree Rongbong Terang could not attend the programme.
