DIPHU, Oct 16: The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) has initiated its own version of ‘Gunotsav’ to evaluate students’ learning abilities. This educational assessment endeavor is scheduled to run from October 16 to October 19 and involves external evaluators visiting schools across 11 Educational Blocks in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong.
Speaking to the media, Richard Tokbi, the Executive Member (EM) of Education at KAAC, explained, “Under the visionary leadership of Chief Executive Member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang, who is committed to enhancing education and achieving Mission 2025, KAAC has launched its own Gunutsav program in all government schools, encompassing students from Class I to Class 10.”
The EM went on to provide details, stating, “A total of 1,25,769 students in 1,953 schools are part of Gunotsav. In West Karbi Anglong, there are 80,383 students in 1,263 schools, while in Karbi Anglong district, 45,386 students attend 690 schools. Today marks the commencement of self-evaluation, where School Management and Development Committee (SMDC) members will carry out assessments. Tomorrow, October 17, has been designated as a Day of Mourning to honor the victims of the Charchim/Presek massacre of 2005. On October 18 and 19, all external evaluators will visit their assigned schools.”
He also highlighted the broad-based participation in Gunutsav, explaining that it encompasses not only government employees but also Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assembly, the CEM, Executive Members, and Members of the Autonomous Council. Each of them will visit the schools assigned to them for evaluation.
