KAAC Team Meets Nitin Gadkari, Takes Up NH 627 Issue

DIPHU, July 24: A delegation from the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) led by chief executive member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang, met Union minister for road transport & highways, Nitin Gadkari, in New Delhi to discuss and submit a memorandum seeking initiation of the construction work of the NH 627.

The proposed road will connect the areas near Nellie (Amsoi gate) and extend through Rajagaon, Doyangmuk, Umrangso, Khobak, and terminate at NH 627 near Harangagao in Dima Hasao.

In their memorandum, the KAAC delegation expressed their appreciation for the significant road connectivity work carried out under the leadership of Gadkari.

Ronghang later took to Facebook to share the details of the meeting.

He stated that they met with Nitin Gadkari along with chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, MP Horen Sing Bey, MLAs Rupsing Teron, Bidya Sing Engleng, and Darsing Ronghang, as well as other dignitaries.

The delegation discussed the proposed road from Nellie Amsoi Gate to Harangajao, and they were assured that the tender for the project would be floated within the next three months.

The proposed National Highway road NH 627 is expected to provide essential connectivity between Nagaon district, West Karbi Anglong district, Dima Hasao district, and Meghalaya.

In addition to meeting Nitin Gadkari, the KAAC delegation also had a meeting with Union minister of culture, Kishan Reddy Gangapuram, and extended an invitation for him to grace the Golden Jubilee celebration of the 50th Karbi Youth Festival, scheduled to be held from January 12 to 19, 2024, at Taralangso.
