DIPHU, Jan 30: The Karbi Cultural Society (KCS) marked its 47th foundation day with grand celebrations held at Karbi People’s Hall in Taralangso on Tuesday.
The commemorative event commenced with floral tributes to the statue of Ru Rangsina Sarpo, hailed as the Father of Karbi Music, followed by heartfelt condolences to departed members of KCS.
The ceremonial hoisting of the KCS flag took place in the presence of its members, led by president Chandrasing Kro.
In a noteworthy collaboration, KCS, in partnership with the US NGO “Cultures of Resistance,” presented the Cultures of Resistance Award for 2023 to the esteemed Karbi singer and lyricist, Pokhila Lekthepi.
In addition to the celebratory activities, KCS members actively participated in a post-Karbi Youth Festival cleaning drive at Taralangso, contributing to the upkeep and maintenance of the area following the festival’s conclusion on January 19.
The event showcased a blend of cultural festivities, recognition of talent, and community service, reflecting the multifaceted contributions of the Karbi Cultural Society.
