KOKRAJHAR, Aug 3: National Handloom Day 2025 was observed in Kokrajhar on Sunday with a day-long programme at the BRAWFED complex in Shyamgaon to celebrate the rich handloom heritage of the region.
The event was organised by the Handloom & Textiles department of the Bodoland Territorial Council in association with the Union Ministry of Textiles under the theme “My Handloom, My Pride”.
Among those present were MCLA and BRAWFED chairman Reorea Narzinary, BTR Handloom director-in-charge Hiryana Devi, Kokrajhar Municipal Board chairperson Pratibha Brahma, and BRAWFED managing director Ractim Buragohain.
Speakers highlighted the cultural and economic significance of handloom in Bodoland and reiterated the government’s commitment to encouraging traditional weaving and empowering local artisans.
