DIPHU, Nov 29: A wave of relief swept through the Primary Education Department of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council as 131 LP school teachers received the initial 5 months’ salary out of the long-awaited 15-month unpaid wages on Thursday.
The disbursement of the dues has not only brought smiles to the faces of the affected educators but has also restored normalcy to the education sector.
The teachers, who had initiated a second round of agitation on November 21 had boycotted classes to protest the non-payment of their salaries. However, following the resolution of the issue, they have resumed their duties from today.
An anonymous teacher expressed gratitude to the concerned authorities for their prompt action and fulfilment of the promises made by higher officials. The teacher reiterated their commitment to providing quality education to the students despite the challenges faced by the profession.
The timely resolution of the salary issue has not only averted further disruptions to the academic calendar but has also demonstrated the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns of its employees.
