HAMREN, May 13: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) witnessed a large-scale joining of opposition party workers during a mass joining programme held in the Langpher Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) constituency under the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) on Tuesday.

The event saw workers from the Congress and All Party Hills Leaders Conference (APHLC – JI Kathar faction) officially join the BJP. The newcomers were warmly welcomed by Tuliram Ronghang, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of KAAC.

Addressing the gathering at the BJP-organized public meeting, CEM Ronghang called on people to align with the ruling party for the sake of continued development. “The Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading the Centre, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is guiding Assam, and here in Karbi Anglong, we have ‘Team Karbi Anglong’ under the BJP. It is the government that delivers on development, employment, and welfare,” he stated.

He emphasized that government-backed schemes like free housing, ration cards, and financial aid for Self Help Groups (SHGs) have reached the people due to the ruling party’s initiatives. “Conscious citizens understand the value of supporting a party that is actively working for the people’s welfare,” added Ronghang.

The CEM also highlighted the central government’s special focus on hill area development, citing multiple infrastructure and welfare projects being implemented in the region.

The event was attended by several prominent leaders including MLA Darsing Ronghang, Karbi Anglong BJP President Rolen Killing, Executive Members of KAAC Surya Rongphar and Madhuram Lekthe, MAC Kadam Terangpi, and former MAC Ram Sing Timung.
