Memorial drama show organised in Sootea

Biswanath Chariali, July 30: A special drama concert was organised by Boka Natya Gosti in collaboration with Sootea Natya Samaj to commemorate the esteemed dramatist Dipak Kumar Gogoi. The event took place on Saturday night at Sootea Natya Bhawan. Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika inaugurated the drama concert and took the opportunity to highlight the significant contributions made by Sootea to the Assamese cine world and dramatic arena.

MLA Padma Hazarika acknowledged the remarkable legacy of Sootea, which has given birth to renowned dramatists like Dipak Kumar Gogoi and prominent actors. He also expressed his appreciation for the active participation of the younger generation in dramatic works, indicating a bright future for the field.

Eminent dramatists Birinchi Bordoloi and Pankaj Jyoti Bhuyan graced the event as special guests. The drama concert featured child artists performing ‘Najaba Duroloi Priya Panchoi’, a script penned by Dipak Kumar Gogoi and directed by Amlandeep Saikia, Hridaydeep Gogoi, and Jyotishman Bora. Additionally, the second drama titled ‘Kotha Bisom’, scripted and directed by Hridaydeep Gogoi, was also showcased during the event.

The evening commenced with dramatist Birinchi Bordoloi lighting an earthen lamp in front of the portrait of late dramatist Dipak Kumar Gogoi, while floral tributes were offered by dramatist Pankaj Jyoti Bhuyan, Dipshikha Handique, chairman of Sootea Town Committee, Trinayan Bora, Pushpeswar Bhuyan, Kamala Das, and other attendees, including family members of the late dramatist Dipak Kumar Gogoi.

The inaugural session was skillfully conducted by Hemanga Hazarika, adding to the poignant and memorable tribute paid to the esteemed dramatist Dipak Kumar Gogoi through this memorial drama show.
