NAGAON, January 7: State Finance Minister Ajanta Neog attended a meeting with BJP workers at Barhampur, Nagaon, to discuss the upcoming panchayat elections here on Tuesday.
Neog, who has been appointed as the party’s in-charge for the Kaliabor district, held discussions with the local BJP leaders and workers to strategise for the upcoming panchayat elections.
When asked about the possibility of an alliance with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) during interaction with local media persons here, Neog said that the decision would be taken by the party’s leadership.
She added that the party’s grassroots workers would have a say in the decision-making process.
Barhampur MLA Jitu Goswami expressed confidence that the BJP would win all 29 panchayat seats in the area.
He also stated that the party would give additional responsibilities to those who were deprived of tickets to contest the elections.
The meeting was attended by several local BJP leaders and workers, who pledged to work towards ensuring the party’s victory in the panchayat elections.
