Minister Atul Bora inaugurates Livestock and Poultry Show 2024

GUWAHATI, Jan 5: Atul Bora, the minister of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, enthusiastically participated in the inaugural ceremony of the Livestock and Poultry Show 2024 at Farmgate Field, Khanapara, Guwahati. The three-day event, jointly organised by the AHV Department and ALPCO, was designed to facilitate meaningful exchanges between industry leaders in the livestock sector and potential farmer entrepreneurs.

Against the backdrop of the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Central and state governments have underscored the significance of agriculture, livestock, and allied sectors. Minister Bora, recognising various measures undertaken to ensure the prosperity and dignity of farmers, encouraged the youth to actively engage in agriculture and livestock farming by leveraging government schemes and policies.

The distinguished gathering at the opening ceremony included Sikkim minister Lok Nath Sharma, MP Queen Oja, MP Pabira Margherita, MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita, AAU VC Dr Bidyut Chandan Deka, ALPCO chairman Manoj Saikia, vice chairman Paresh Borkotoky, AHV Department principal secretary Manish Thakur, secretary Abhijit Barua, CVSc Khanapara dean Dr Bibekananda Saikia, senior officials of AHV Department, Government of Assam, and directors of Veterinary Departments from Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, and Meghalaya governments. The ceremony attracted other senior officials from various North Eastern states.

The Livestock and Poultry Show not only serves as a prominent platform for showcasing advancements in these sectors but also aligns with the government’s vision of fostering growth through collaborations, knowledge transfer, and expanded market access. Minister Bora extended his best wishes to all livestock farmers, entrepreneurs, officials, and experts from Assam and other North Eastern states, urging stakeholders to collaborate for the event’s success and the ultimate benefit of farmers.

In addition to the livestock event, minister Bora attended the ‘Assam Rising Youth Conclave 2023-24’ organised by Aalok Pravanjyan Welfare Society in Guwahati. He commended the organisers for their noble initiative, anticipating that it would significantly contribute to youth entrepreneurship and unlock true potential across various sectors in the state. Minister Bora presented awards and felicitated individuals for their noteworthy contributions to various fields, extending congratulations and best wishes for their future endeavors. Distinguished personalities such as Dr Naren Hazarika, Bhupendranath Bhattacharya, Shankar Gohain, Digjyoti Lahkar, and other youths and students graced the occasion.
