DIPHU, Feb 26: On February 24, a distressing incident unfolded in Karbi Anglong, as a minor girl reportedly fell victim to rape allegedly perpetrated by Krishna Ram (20) from Tripura Basti, under the jurisdiction of Borlangpher Police Station. The Borlangpher Police have swiftly taken the accused into custody.
According to accounts provided by the victim’s father and witnesses, the young girl was alone at home on Saturday when she was administered an intoxicating substance and subsequently assaulted.

Shockingly, upon learning of the incident, villagers were discouraged from reporting the crime to the authorities by an individual named Sumir Pal, who purportedly threatened them. Pal allegedly asserted that he could secure the accused’s release within a mere two days, should the matter be reported to the police.
In response to the heinous crime, the victim underwent a medical examination on Sunday night, and an FIR has been lodged with the Borlangpher Police Station. Investigations into the matter are currently ongoing.
