DIPHU, Feb 6: A minor was allegedly raped on the evening of February 3 on Saraswati Puja day in Karbi Anglong district. The victim was brought to Diphu Medical College & Hospital for medical attention.
Bikrom Gowala, a local leader of the Adivasi student body, narrating about the incident at DMC & H said the incident happened on February 3, but it was known only by the evening when one of the Adivasi student leaders got the information.

According to the statement of Gowala, the victim had gone to attend Saraswati puja in her school. While returning home with her companions it became a little late. Two youths on a motorbike stopped them on the road. Her other friends ran away, while the youths caught the victim and brutally raped her.
In connection to the heinous crime, Borlangpher police have arrested two culprits involved in the crime identified as Lal Baburam and Ajoy Gaur of the neighbouring village of Borlangpher.
