JORHAT, Jan 12: The Assam Agricultural University (AAU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Pramek Technologies and Services to commercially produce fertilizers and organic pesticides developed through long-term research.
Pramek Technologies will start commercial production of 8 selected types of fertilisers and organic pesticides following the signing of the MoU on Friday.
AAU director of research Dr SK Chetia signed the MoU on behalf of the University while Konkon Kashyap was present on behalf of Pramek Technologies.
Dr Chetia said that AAU vice-chancellor Dr Bidyut Chandan Deka was taking steps to ensure that research done at the University reached the farmers. The director of research further said that commercial production of fertilisers and biopesticides will benefit farmers involved in organic farming.
Meanwhile, the technology transfer would also benefit the university.
The joint director of research Dr Mrinal Saikia, the head of the Plant Pathology department Dr Palash Deb Nath and the head of Soil Sciences Dr Dilip Patgiri and other scientists attended the event.
