A police source said that the boy on peeping inside the bag was shocked to see the baby and called his mother to inform her about what had happened. His mother accompanied by other residents of their locality soon arrived on the spot. They took the baby boy to the Lichubari Police Station and then to the Primary Health Centre at Bagchung.

Doctors at the health centre conducted a health check-up of the infant and termed him to be in good health.

Later the infant was handed over to Jorhat’s Child Welfare Committee, which placed it with the Specialized and Adoption Agency at Rajamaidam here.
