NFR extends operation of special trains

GUWAHATI, Aug 23: Northeast Frontier Railway has announced the continuation of special train services connecting Silchar to Naharlagun and Agartala to Guwahati for an additional 13 trips in both directions. This extension will be effective from next month until November 2023. The decision to prolong the periodicity of these special trains aims to cater to the heightened demand for passenger travel between the southern regions of North East India.

The special train no 05638 (Silchar-Naharlagun) will operate for 13 more trips starting from September 4 until November 27, 2023. Departing from Silchar at 13:50 hours every Monday, the train will arrive at Naharlagun at 08:40 hours the following day. In the opposite direction, special train no 05637 (Naharlagun-Silchar) will run for 13 trips between September 5 and November 28, 2023. The train will depart from Naharlagun at 10:00 hours every Tuesday, reaching Silchar at 05:20 hours the next day. The special train comprises 20 coaches including AC 2-tier, AC 3-tier, and sleeper class coaches.

Furthermore, special train no 05628 (Agartala-Guwahati) will continue its services for 13 more trips from September 7 to November 30, 2023. Departing from Agartala at 19:00 hours every Thursday, the train will reach Guwahati at 08:45 hours the following day. In the return journey, special train no 05627 (Guwahati-Agartala) will operate for 13 trips between September 8 and December 1, 2023. Departing from Guwahati at 13:15 hours every Friday, the train will arrive at Agartala at 04:10 hours the next day. This special train consists of 21 coaches, including AC 3-tier, sleeper class, and general second class coaches.

Passengers are advised to check the details of stoppages and timings for these special trains on the IRCTC website, as well as in newspapers and NF Railway’s social media platforms, before embarking on their journeys.
