Niren Baruah Memorial Recitation Competition on Nov 24

GUWAHATI, Nov 17: New Art Players (NAP), a leading socio-cultural organisation of the state, is organising a recitation competition on November 24, 2024, at 2:00 pm at its cultural complex located behind Kamrup Academy HS School, Guwahati (near Ambari Traffic Rotary).

This competition has been held annually since 2006 in memory of the late Niren Baruah, a senior member of NAP and a distinguished actor-director in theatre and film, as well as a popular newsreader with All India Radio’s golden voice. Competitors are required to recite a self-selected Assamese poem within five minutes. The minimum age limit for participants is set at 16 years. The last date for registration is November 22, 2024.

The top three performers in the competition will be awarded cash prizes of Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000, and Rs 2,000, respectively, along with permanent trophies and certificates.

Renowned actress and recipient of the prestigious National Award, Malaya Goswami, will be the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony.
