Noted social worker Anu Lahkar passes away

TEZPUR, June 1 : A sense of deep sorrow enveloped the entire greater Tezpur area as the noted social worker and pious lady of Murhateteli area here Anu Lahkar breathed her last on Thursday following her old age ailments. She was 85.

During her lifetime, Lahkar  wife of late Lakshmi Kanta Lahkar and mother of distinguished social figure and prominent physician Dr Pradip Lahkar  was  closely associated with several socio-culture and religious  organisations of her vicinity.

After receiving the news of her  death various organizations and individuals including  MLA, Tezpur Prithviraj Rabha, MLA, Rangapara Krishna Kamal Tanti , noted physician Dr PK Sarma, assistant labour commissioner Jiban Dutta, artist Jaan Talukdar of Assam Repertory , Namcare and Orthocare hospital families, officials and staff of the office of the assistant labour commissioner  and the people  of the locality  have deeply mourned at the death of the pious lady  and expressing their condolences to the bereaved families.

Among many disciples she leaves behind her only son prominent social figure of Tezpur Dr Pradip Lahkar,  daughter-in-laws, son-in-laws and grandchildren and a score of grieving relatives. The last rite of the pious lady was held at the Hajarapar public cemetery here on Thursday night in the presence of many dignitaries.
