NTPC Bongaigaon Salakati leads massive plogging program

KOKRAJHAR, May 21: In a remarkable display of community engagement and environmental stewardship, and as part of the ongoing Swachhata Pakhwada held from May 16 to 31, 2024, NTPC Bongaigaon organised a massive plogging event on Tuesday.

The event, held outside the premises of NTPC Bongaigaon Salakati, witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 100 employees and associates, marking a significant step towards a cleaner and greener environment. Led by KC Muraleedharan, business unit head of NTPC Bongaigaon, the plogging event kicked off with the solemn undertaking of the Swachhata Pledge, reaffirming the commitment to cleanliness and sustainable living.

Participants embarked on a 2-kilometer stretch from NTPC Bongaigaon Salakati Township premises to Salakati Market premises, adjacent to the plant, engaging in the collective effort of clearing the road and surrounding areas of litter and waste.

The event garnered support from senior officials including Induri S Reddy, GM (O&M), Asutosh Biswas, GM (Operation), AK Singh, AGM (FM), Onkar Nath, AGM (HR), and heads of departments, alongside employees from various departments. Their active involvement highlights the shared commitment towards fostering a culture of cleanliness and sustainability within the community.

Upon reaching the Salakati market area, NTPC Bongaigaon Salakati donated seven dustbins to the market committee, symbolising a lasting commitment to the daily cleanliness and upkeep of the area. The noble gesture reflects NTPC Bongaigaon’s dedication to not only environmental conservation but also to the well-being and prosperity of the communities it serves.

Speaking about the event, Muraleedharan expressed his gratitude to all participants and stakeholders for their unwavering support towards this noble cause. He emphasised the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges and reiterated NTPC Bongaigaon’s resolve to continue spearheading initiatives that promote sustainable development and community welfare.
