Pathshala High School embraces Plant-Powered Thursdays for a Sustainable Future

Pathshala, Assam – In a groundbreaking move towards sustainability, Pathshala High School has launched the Plant-Powered Thursdays initiative, in collaboration with NGOs A Just World, Samayu and Jan Briddhi Foundation. Every Thursday, all meals served at the school will be completely plant-based, free from any animal products. This initiative aims to replace a staggering 7,200 meals annually with nutritious, plant-based alternatives.

Plant-Powered Thursdays are more than just a dietary change; it represents a significant step towards environmental conservation and animal welfare. Every day a plant-based diet is chosen, it saves an animal’s life, conserves 4,164 liters of water, protects 3 square meters of forested land, and reduces CO2 emissions by 9 kilograms.

Anupam Kakati, founder of Jan Briddhi expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “This program not only promotes healthier eating habits among students but also instills a sense of responsibility towards our planet and its inhabitants.”

Pathshala High School’s principal remarked, “We are proud to pioneer this initiative. It aligns with our mission to educate our students about sustainability and empower them to make choices that positively impact the world.”
