KHERONI, Aug 16: In an effort to find a permanent solution to the border issues between Assam and and to put an end to conflicts, the state minister Pijush Hazarika visited the region of Western Karbi Anglong, situated along the Assam-Meghalaya border, and addressed the concerns of the local residents on Wednesday.

The minister visited various locations along the border to understand the problems being faced by local people. The border issue has led to various clashes and violent incidents between the residents of both states due to tensions that have arisen over time.

Particularly, the areas of West Karbi Anglong and some parts of Meghalaya had witnessed a tense environment created by the border problem a few months ago, with confrontations resembling warfare among residents of the two states.

Hazarika held talks at a neutral location. This meeting involved representatives from the Assam government and the Karbi Council government, as well as a delegation from Meghalaya government led by a Cabinet minister.
