Raktim and Mridul duo win sports quiz competition

GUWAHATI, Nov 28: Raktim Ranjan Baishya and Mridul Ram Kalita emerged victorious in the sixth edition of the Pulin Das Memorial Open Prize-Money Quiz Competition-2023, organised by the Guwahati Tennis Association (GTA) at Kumar Bhaskar Natya Mandir, Guwahati. The duo clinched the first prize, while Chandan Deorah and Dipanjan Deb took home the first runner-up prize, and Sandipan Pathak and Nayan Jyoti Medhi secured the second runner-up prize.

A total of 22 teams from across the region participated in the initial round of the competition, with six teams advancing to the final round. The final round consisted of nine rounds, including audio-visual rounds, buzzer rounds, a photo frame round, a takes-your-choice round, and two dry dose rounds. The audience was also engaged with quiz questions and presented with various gifts.

Dr Madhuryya Hazarika, working president of the GTA, welcomed the guests and participants to the closing ceremony. Eminent personalities, including music director Ramen Barua, sports journalist Subodh Malla Barua, security solutions provider Dhiraj Dutta, sports organiser Pulok Goswami, former cricketer Mukut Das, and social worker Raja Kakati, were felicitated and invited to present prizes to the winning teams.

The top three teams received cash prizes of Rs 12,000, Rs 8,000, and Rs 6,000, respectively, along with trophies. Cash prizes of Rs 2,000 were awarded to the teams that placed fourth to sixth. The competition was sponsored by Pride-East Entertainment Private Limited and Omega Security Solution.

The event commenced with floral tributes being paid to the late sports organiser Kriramohiruh Pulin Das. Kalyan Kumar Das, president of the GTA, officially inaugurated the competition by lighting the traditional lamp.
