Ratul Sharma receives ‘Yuva Ratna’ award

Hajo, Oct 29: Under the initiative of the Damdama Sahitya Sabha the ‘Yuva Ratna’ award giving ceremony and book release programme was held on Saturday at Damdama College, a leading educational institution in the pilgrim town of Hajo. The meeting was presided over by Kanak Sharma, president of Damdama Sahitya Sabha.

Ratul Sharma, a well-known social worker and life member of the Asam Sahitya Sabha was been honoured with the ‘Yuva Ratna’ award by the Damdama Sahitya Sabha in recognition of his well-known service to the greater Hajo region.

Receiving the award the young social worker Ratul Sharma got a little emotional and accepted the ‘Yuva Ratna’ honour as a blessing of the people. He gave a constructive speech describing the values of service.

Eminent litterateur Dr. Rita Chaudhary graced the occasion as the guest of honour. Apart from this two books were released at the meeting, ‘Prasanga Rasa’ written by Rajani Shaloi and ‘Bolukat Akhoj’ written by Gopal Chandra Malakar. In the meeting, special congratulatory wishes were extended to Babul Chandra Das, Goutam Malakar, State teacher awardees Rajani Shaloi, Dharmeshwar Das, Yadav Chandra Das, Renuka Kalita and Munindra Mahanta, recipients of felicitation under the Assam Bhasha Gaurav Yojana. Principal of Damdama College Suranjan Sharma, editor of ‘Asom Bani’ Dilip Chandan, Sankar Gohain, editor of ‘Dainandin Barta’ were also present at the event. In Saturday’s meeting, the speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly Biswajit Daimary adorned the seat of the chief guest. Later the meeting was culminated with the national anthem.
