GUWAHATI, Jan 13: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of NF Railway achieved a significant feat by apprehending seven individuals involved in the theft of passenger belongings during regular checks and drives conducted on January 10 & 11, 2024. The recovered valuables were estimated to be worth approximately Rs 2.92 lakhs. The incidents occurred at railway stations in Guwahati, Jagiroad, Lumding, New Coochbehar, and Chaparmukh.
On January 10, 2024, the RPF team at Guwahati Railway Station apprehended one person with two stolen mobile phones valued at around Rs 20,000. Simultaneously, the RPF teams of Alipurduar and New Coochbehar jointly conducted a drive at New Coochbehar Railway Station, leading to the apprehension of an individual with eight stolen mobile phones worth approximately Rs 2.32 lakhs.
Continuing their efforts on January 11, 2024, the RPF team of Chaparmukh conducted a checking drive at Jagiroad Railway Station and apprehended one person with one stolen mobile phone valued at around Rs 10,000.
All apprehended individuals were handed over to the respective In-charge of GRP for further legal actions. The RPF of NF Railway remains dedicated to ensuring the security of passengers, providing assistance, and promptly addressing issues reported by rail users.
