Social worker and publisher Rabindra Prasad Kotoki passes away

SIVASAGAR, July 30: The town of Sivasagar mourns the loss of Rabindra Prasad Kotoki, a prominent social worker, entrepreneur, and publisher, who passed away on Saturday after a brief illness at his residence on Sankar Mandir Road. Son of the former Maujadar of Mahmora mauja, Lakhi Prasad Kotoky, Rabindra Prasad Kotoki made significant contributions to the community.

In the 1970s, he established the Lakhi Printing Press on Hospital Road, Sivasagar town, and was known for publishing the weekly newspaper ‘Saptahik Janajyoti’. His dedication to the field of publishing and media left a lasting impact on the community.

Following his passing, a large number of friends and admirers gathered at his residence to pay their respects and participate in his funeral procession. Notable figures, including former BJP president Narayan Kotoky, former Guwahati High Court Justice Bijendra Prasad Kotoky, renowned litterateur Dr Nahendra Padun, educationist Dipali Chaliha, and satradhikar Lakhikanta Mahanta, among many others, paid their tributes.

Numerous organisations, such as Sivasagar Natya Samaj, Sivasagar Media Fraternity, Barowari Puja Samity, Hindu Dharma Namghar Samaj, Sankar Mandir Samaj, Sivasagar Sports Association, AASU, and many more, expressed their grief over the demise of this esteemed social worker.

Rabindra Prasad Kotoki’s legacy lives on through his sons Rahul Kotoky, who serves as a DIG in Rajasthan Police, and Raktim Kotoky, who is based in the UK. Their presence at this time of mourning brings comfort to the family and friends as they remember the contributions and impact of Rabindra Prasad Kotoki on the community and society as a whole.
