TEZPUR, July 13:Â The district administration conducted an eviction drive at Poruwa Chariali daily Market area on NH-37 (A) under Mahabhairab Police outpost here recently.
In the area many people have been occupying government land to set up business establishments. As reported, among the government land encroachers, one encroacher was running an ice cream factory (Mahi ice-cream factory) occupying a huge chunk of government land. Local indigenous people had been demanding the administration to free the area from the illegal occupation by the encroachers.
However, on Friday morning an eviction team comprising officials from Tezpur Development authority, Tezpur revenue circle office, and police administration including Ratish Borah, circle officer, Madhurya Buragohain and supported CRPF’s team conducted the drive and demolished the illegally set up Mahi Ice-cream’s factory. District administration sources said that the eviction drive would continue to make the area free from the illegal settlers.
