NAGAON, July 16: The footprint of a stranded Royal Bengal tiger spotted on the Dhing College campus on Tuesday morning created panic among the residents of greater Dhing town and its outskirts. In response, the district administration has promulgated a prohibitory order in Dhing town since Tuesday morning, leading to the closure of all commercial establishments, offices, and institutions.
A stranded Royal Bengal tiger, believed to have come from the nearby Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary, has caused panic among the people in the greater Dhing area for the past couple of days.
Over five persons, including a forest personnel, were grievously injured in attacks by the tiger as of the time of filing this report. Forest personnel from the Nagaon forest range and officials from the Nagaon wildlife division rushed to the spot and set up arrangements to cage the tiger. However, despite their efforts, the officials and forest personnel had not succeeded in caging the tiger by this evening.
Residents of Dhing town and nearby areas have remained confined to their houses since Tuesday morning.
